New Orleans: Red Carpet Event Opportunity Knocks on PBS

This red carpet event will showcase the life-changing impact of this acclaimed television series and its profound effect on the lives of New Orleans residents which are inspiring the nation.

Local nonprofits United Way of Southeast Louisiana, Urban League of Louisiana, Southeast Louisiana Legal Services and not-for-profit New Orleans Firemen's Federal Credit Union, a Community Development Financial Institution are featured in the national television series.

As an attendee, you'll experience the excitement of a red carpet event and gain a deeper understanding of the sincere focus on community impact that Opportunity Knocks is measuring as part of The Opportunity Initiative. This Telly and Anthem Awards-winning show is behaviorally designed to reduce the shame of financial challenges, overcome the distrust of institutions, and increase opportunities for the 78%+ of Americans living paycheck to paycheck.

The Opportunity Initiative's transformative technology, the recipient of a Gold dotCOMM Award, is revolutionizing access to financial wellness and social services. The Opportunity Finder, featured in the series, used by viewers, and free to nonprofits, connects users to vital resources such as utility assistance, childcare, eviction prevention, business start-up services, and equitable access to capital through CDFIs. In Season One alone, The Opportunity Finder connected 70,000 people to these critical services.

In 2024, The Opportunity Initiative received a $500,000 grant from the Wells Fargo Foundation to develop The Opportunity Coach, a groundbreaking tool capable of providing financial health assessments for all viewers and measuring longitudinal financial health outcomes.
